Abstract

An educational Electronic Game for teaching practice can provide new teaching and learning concepts in an interactive environment stimulating memory and concentration. Thus, the Serious Games come with focus in specific learning. Its use in Health is growing, but in Dentistry there are few reports on this approach. This article is a literature review of the integrative type, whose keywords were ‘games’ (or ‘video games’) and dentistry, with no year restriction for publication or language. There were 179 articles in the databases until June 2016. 175 were excluded and after further studies, 11 articles were selected for full reading, which were included in this review. Among the studies 5 (45.45%) were focused on education, and 6 (54.54%) were focused on clinical practice, specified as a dental X patient approach. Much has been said about simulators and virtual patients. However, the effectiveness of serious games in dentistry, specifically in Endodontics, has been little studied. Is expected that this article refers to the importance and need for further study and development of Serious Games in this area.
